Regardless of who you are, I believe one of the smartest investments you can make is in yourself. It doesn’t take coming up with and idea of finding your niche business to start hustling on the side. Your side hustle can start with you.
I’ve wrote about this before and I’m sure I’ll write about it again. The biggest mistake I made was not creating a brand for myself online. The missed opportunities by avoiding the use of my name has set me back now that I’m leveraging my skills. I believe I need to work twice as hard now to create a new reputation for myself online.
This is my side hustle. Building my brand is what consumes my spare time. I want there to be massive value associated with my name in my industry.
After speaking with entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, small business owners and founders it’s clear – their customers know them and value the personal relationship over the business. Maybe that’ll make you think about what could happen to your business if you sold or closed up, but I want to focus on something prior to that; how you are involved in your day-to-day and how many people know you.
Listen to the people around you and discover what your best talents are. I neglected this (or didn’t value it myself) for too long. Getting asked for advice on marketing and sales in a number of businesses, I should have seen the pattern.
You can start your side hustle today. Its you. You’ve always been you. Don’t make the mistake that I did and delay the development of your brand.
